week 14, day 2 - 11 April

section 1 :
no lecture. we watched a video on hitler's speech about Volksgemeinschaft.

section 2 :

·      Germany in 1938

o   no trouble with food shortages

o   everything was going smoothly

o   economically stable

o   was as organized and economically stable with some cities in America

o   everyone who has no jobs, they would join the army, but instead of having rifles, they would use shovels. everybody was building something

·       volksgemeinschaft  - program used by Hitler to make the economy stable

o   volks : people

o   schaft : people’s community

·      uses the country’s weaknesses for his advantage

·      he wants German people to be independent

     section 3 : 

     how did volksgemeinschaft work?

·      hitler used the country’s own weaknesses (poverty, economic depression) for his power. this encouraged he citizens of Germany to get a fire inside them.
